It was an oddly captivating and lonely door and I had to have a shot of it. During a visit to a friend’s studio we had went to their building rooftop to check out the view of the city. As soon as we came out onto the rooftop this doorway was staring me in the face. I was completely enthralled with the whole urban decay of it and how it’s purpose as a functioning door was long past but was still operating as a barrier. I was intrigued by the slow un-layering it was experiencing and quickly framed a shot before continuing on with my tour. I found myself wondering how many people had crossed the threshold and when the last time it was actually used? The door completely eclipsed the view of the city scape and conversation my friend was trying to have with me.
