Acrylic on Stonehenge Paper
30″ x 48″
In 1997 I had painted this portrait on a scale that was 3-4 times larger than any portrait I had done at the time. It is still to this day one of my favourite photos I have done a portrait from and had painted it again a few years later on a smaller canvas. The original large scale portrait on paper shown in this photo was given to a friend and the smaller canvas was traded for a print from an artist friend David Willardson. It was a tremendous honour to have David express an interest in the painting. A few months after we had traded painting for print, I went out to California to visit his studio and see the piece hanging up. It was one of the more humbling moments of my career to see the canvas hanging in David’s studio.
